​​Due to their continued growth and expanding portfolio, they are looking to add an Architectural Technologist / Senior Architectural Technologist to their existing team.  The role will be based from either their Bristol city centre office, but they also encourage hybrid working with a combination of office and home based working to ensure a good work / life balance.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with a broad range of schemes across the Southwest  region including several exciting projects in higher education, custodial and commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and mentor junior staff, including Apprentices and Part I / Part II Students.
  • Take receipt of a brief and develop it into a design without intervention
  • Contribute to and help co-ordinate the development of Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and AHR’s Deliverables and DRM
  • Achieve efficient and effective construction detailing using robust and sustainable design solutions.
  • Prepare compliant designs by following UK Construction Law, British Standards and relevant CoPs.
  • Choose or advise on material selection. Respect the limited availability of natural resources when making design decisions. Take into account design life and durability.
  • Author bespoke specifications in NBS Chorus. Evidence supporting technical data in project folders.
  • Assist the Project Team with designing to a budget. On instruction, assist with value-engineering.
  • Participate in project reviews and coordination workshops.
  • Assist in gathering and preparing information required to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations and Building Safety Gateways.
  • Negotiate with statutory bodies, write reports and complete statutory submissions (planning Applications / Gateway Submissions / Building Regulations etc).

About you

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • BSc or HND qualified in relevant subject, with no less than 5 years post qualification experience
  • CIAT registered would be preferred or working towards
  • Able to competently use 3D Autodesk Revit and 3D rendering packages, 2D AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Sound drawing and detailed design skills.  Able to prepare working drawings, schedules and specifications.
  • Experience in leading the delivery of production packages.
  • Proficient in Revit with at least three years’ continual use in practice as the primary design/ delivery tool.
  • Good knowledge of UK Construction and Building Law.
  • Confident and enthusiastic
