An opportunity has araisen to join a dynamic team as a Field Service Engineer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-end service and commissioning for cutting-edge Electrical Control Systems. From PLCs to AC/DC drives and SCADA systems, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, ensuring prompt, efficient, and safe on-site support throughout the UK. 

Reporting directly to the Production & Service Manager, you’ll embark on a journey of problem-solving excellence, offering reactive site support, conducting methodical troubleshooting, and providing workshop testing for engineered automation Control Systems. Your expertise will extend to reading electrical schematic diagrams, marking-up project schematics, and maintaining accurate site logs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reactive site support on customer automation control applications to include PLC, VSD’s, Robots network and SCADA systems
  • 24/7 reactive callout support (rostered cover)
  • Methodical problem-solving approach
  • Workshop testing of engineered automation Control Systems
  • Investigation and Repair of components to include PLC, VSD’s, Robots network and SCADA systems
  • To be capable of reading electrical schematic diagrams and PLC software listings
  • To be capable of keeping accurate and up to date site logs and timesheets
  • Accurate marking-up of project schematics and documentation
  • Assist with the development and delivery of bespoke training courses to meet the customer’s requirements
  • Support and train colleagues where possible
  • Assist other engineers with on-site commissioning and service of engineered automation Control Systems
  • Assist sales with technical support, site audits and quotations
  • Assist in the development of the service department to increase its capabilities and competitiveness within the marketplace
  • To adhere to the Company’s Quality and Health and Safety procedures and any other Company policies and procedures
  • Other engineering duties deemed to be within your capabilities


  • Effective communication with customers, contractors, and engineers regarding issues, progress, and goals
  • Ability to communicate with on-site personnel
  • Willingness to work long hours and spend extended periods on feet
  • Flexibility to work at customer sites nationally and internationally, potentially for prolonged durations
  • Experience with variable speed drives (Siemens, ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell, CT, Servo drives)
  • Proficiency in PLC systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron)
  • Advantageous to have experience with robotics
  • Strong teamwork and initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Confident, proactive, and organized approach to work
  • Adaptability to different situations
